Agus iad bailithe leis an gcarn mór brúscair plaistigh a chothaigh féile bia an bhaile, thosnaigh grúpa beag gníomhaithe pobail sa Daingean feachtas chun úsáid soitheach plaisteach aon uaire a laghdú. Ní rabhadar ag súil leis an easpa eolais a léiríodh faoi géarchéim an truailliú plaistigh sa Daingean, baile a bhfuil a ghéilleagar ag brath cuid mhór ar chaomhnú a thimpeallachta mara.
Agus sinn ag glanadh tráígh amháin lá, cuireadh an cheist: an mbeadh athrú ar an easpa spéise dá mba rud é gur daoine seachas ainmhithe a bhí á chaitheamh i dtír agus iad tachtaithe nó múchta? B'shin mar a cuireadh síol an tionscadail seo, Taismigh Éascaíochta. Deonaigh dáréag ghníomhaí áitiúil a gcorp a nochtadh ar mhaithe le nochtadh an fhírinne faoi thruailliú plaisteach inár bhfarraigí. An tortha ealaíne ar seo ná cnuasach cumhachtach grianghrafanna a chuireann an matalang seo – atá tite amach inár bhfarraigí de bharr cultúr na héascaíochta – ina luí ar dhaoine ar shlí úr.

Against the mountains of plastic waste created at the town's food festival, a small group of community activists began a campaign to reduce disposable plastics in Dingle. In a town whose economy relies on the preservation of its marine environment, they did not anticipate the lack of awareness around the plastic pollution crisis.
On one beach clean, the question was asked, would people change their habits if it were humans washing up suffocated and strangled? Thus the Casualties of Convenience project was born. 12 local campaigners agreed to expose themselves to expose the truth about plastic pollution in our oceans. The result is a powerful collection that brings home in a new way the calamity that has befallen our oceans as a result of our culture of convenience.

'Fíochán Filí' ['Weaving Poets'] is a series of six poetry readings organized by An Lab Irish-language arts centre in An Daingean [Dingle]. The series of readings is a kind of exchange programme celebrating both the Gaeltacht-based, long-standing poetic tradition and the newer, urban-based growth of poetry in Irish. The readings will be spread out over 2017 from February to November. Each of the six readings will bring together poets from the West Kerry Gaeltacht with poets from one of the cities Dublin, Cork and Galway in one major reading. Three of the readings will take place in these cities, while the other three will be hosted in An Lab in An Daingean [Dingle].
